Small Business in Denver

Karen Nimock is the owner of SunSaver Awnings based in Denver Colorado.  As part of our blog series on successful small business owners I recently did a quick interview with her. I wanted to get her thoughts on why SunSaver has been so successful since 1997.

I asked her what the best part of owning the business is:

The best part of owning SunSaver is the wonderful people we get to meet.  Watching the success of SunSaver grow has been very rewarding.  Being able to manage our own time is a plus.

Q. Why do customers chose your company?

SunSaver is the best choice for awnings in Colorado because in addition to our outstanding customer care, we truly offer the highest quality, most durable and attractive line of awnings on the market today.

Q. How many customers do you have?

Over fifteen years we have serviced and sold several thousand products.

Q.What are your plans over the next couple of years?

Over the next two years we plan to continue offering outstanding customer care; continue adding the top of the line products as they come to the market and continue to stay in business as we have watched so many awning companies fold and not be around to service their customers.

Q. Any Advice for new business owners?

My advice to new business owners:  When first starting up….keep the promises you make to your customers; keep your business manageable and don’t take your eye off of the bottom line.  Your in business to make money.  Don’t under sell yourself and make yourself available for all past and future customers.  Surround yourself in business with people you enjoy working with and working for.

Q. What recognition has Sunsaver receivied?

Since 2004 we have received quite a few awards for outstanding performance in the awning industry.  My greatest award is the incredible responses we receive back on our customer questionnaires after every job is completed.  Great customer relationships are my outstanding award.  The people in my business doing the majority of the work is also among my greatest award.
